NGUNI PRECINCT
Nguni is a large-scale government initiative undertaken on behalf of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality to develop more than 3,000 new Community Residential Units (CRUs). The project is located on a challenging site with several areas deemed unsuitable for construction. In response to these constraints, Archland has designed a family-friendly neighbourhood that incorporates generous parklands, recreational areas, and public spaces.

Depicting the spatial separation between proposed structures due to dolomitic constraints

This detailed layout of the proposed precinct illustrates the building footprints, parking arrangements, landscaping elements, and road network.

The buildings have been designed to comply with EMM requirements by providing edge definition along road verges and creating enclosed spaces that enhance safety

The space is designed as a public area where vendors can set up stalls to sell a variety of goods, including fresh produce, crafts, and food

Hardscaped road verges enhance visual appeal while also contributing to improved pedestrian safety

These are used to manage traffic flow and enhance safety
