HILLTOP CAMP
This luxury tented camp is located in the scenic Lebombo Mountains on the Mozambican side. The design brief called for the retention of existing ruins, which were repurposed as the main mess area, and for the reuse of existing slabs—left behind when the site was vacated—by covering them with suspended decks and tents. The interiors, designed by Andrea Kirkinis of Sauvage Design, follow the aesthetic of a ‘Transient Camp,’ although in this case, both the tents and structures are permanent.

The rock walls form part of the original ruins retained in the design

Featuring a fireplace incorporated where the original rock wall had been damaged

The rock plinth beneath the new pizza oven is part of the original base that once supported a water storage tank

Set on the edge of the sunken boma to create an intimate outdoor gathering space
